How To Prepare Your Home For The Spring In 4 Easy Steps

3/6/2023 (Permalink)

The warmer weather and longer days are here! As we put away our winter boots and jackets, it's time to start preparing for a great summer by making sure your home is ready. Here are some simple things you can do to get started:

Inspect your Gutters

Inspect your gutters. It's important to make sure that your gutters are in good shape before the spring showers begin. Look for any damage and make sure that leaves, debris and other obstructions have been cleaned out of them. Check to see if they're draining properly. If not, hire a professional!

HVAC Maintenance

It's important to maintain your HVAC system. Your home's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system may not be at the top of your mind when you're enjoying the sunnier days of spring, but it should be. Seasonal maintenance helps keep your HVAC running safely and efficiently all year long.

Test Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors

While doing your spring maintenance, it is a good time to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This is important because if a detector goes off and you don't know about it, you could be in danger. It's also important to make sure your batteries are working properly so that if there is an emergency situation, the alarm will go off immediately.

Landscaping Maintenance

The spring is the time of year to give your lawn and shrubs a good once-over. If you haven't mowed your lawn in several weeks, now is the time to do it! Also, trim bushes and trees as necessary, fertilize the grass if needed, and make sure all garden tools are in good working condition.

You should also inspect any outdoor furniture or decorations that have been stored during winter months for cracks or other damage that may need repair before placing them back outside again this spring/summer season.

Take Time to Prepare for a Great Summer!

Summer is a great time to get outdoors, enjoy the weather and relax. But with all of the fun activities you have planned for this season, don't forget to take some time now to prepare your home for summer. The right preparations will help make sure that everything runs smoothly when it comes time to actually enjoy those long days outside.

We hope this article has given you some ideas for how to prepare your home for the spring and summer. As a reminder, if there are any major repairs that need to be done on your home before warmer weather arrives, it's always best to get them done now so that they don't become more expensive when temperatures rise!
